Starting today on Cortex it is also possible to buy Veeam Backup & Replication v13 rental licenses.
This is a release that is not invasive from a platform point of view, but useful because expands the available options by introducing the most recent release of Veeam Backup & Replication directly into the usual purchasing and management flow.
A new addition to the Veeam Cloud Platform
From an operational point of view, the main change is very concrete: the new Veeam Backup & Replication v13 rental licenses are now available on Cortex.
In practice, those who already use the Veeam licensing management platform can continue to do so in the same way, with the possibility now to adopt the new release as well. La User Interface on the other hand, it has been slightly revised, while maintaining the simplicity of use and the usual operational continuity.
This innovation fits perfectly into the context of Veeam Cloud Platform, which continues to natively integrate Veeam functionality, simplifying their management. In fact, the release reinforces an already structured proposal, in which licensing, services and infrastructure coexist within the same operating model.

Why is Veeam Backup & Replication v13 relevant? What are the main changes?
To better frame this novelty, it is useful to distinguish the levels.
- Veeam Backup & Replication v13 is the new release of Veeam's backup and replication engine. This release is part of Veeam Data Platform, the largest Veeam platform, available in different editions depending on the required functional perimeter.
- Veeam Cloud Platform is CloudFire's proposal that integrates these technologies into a service provided on CloudFire infrastructure, with centralized management through Cortex.
This distinction is important because it helps you read the news: on Cortex you are not simply finding a new software version, but a new release that is part of a CloudFire proposal already built to be easier to manage and more complete to deliver.
The availability of the new release on Cortex is therefore important as it makes the evolutions introduced by Veeam Backup & Replication v13 accessible more immediately. Let's see the news together:
- Linux-based Veeam Software Appliance: a new deployment option that goes hand in hand with the traditional installation on Windows;
- New Web UI: updated web interface, with improvements also to the classic UI and monitoring activities;
- Advanced RBAC and SSO: more granular access control and Single Sign-On support through SAML 2.0;
- High Availability: new options to increase the operational continuity of the backup infrastructure;
- Universal CDP: continuous data protection extended to larger scenarios;
- Optimizations for object storage: improvements in terms of efficiency and support for new scenarios;
- Threat Center: greater visibility on the state of data protection and security aspects.
A Look at Veeam Data Platform
As we said before, Veeam Data Platform is the Veeam platform that also includes Backup & Replication and is offered in three editions:
- Foundation, focused on backup, instant recovery, immutability and retention management features;
- Advanced, which adds threat detection and response capabilities;
- Premium, which includes resilience features with automated testing and recovery orchestration.
This step helps give you the right context for v13: not as a separate element, but as part of a larger Veeam ecosystem. At the same time, in the CloudFire proposal, these technologies find a concrete place within the Veeam Cloud Platform, where software and infrastructure are brought into a single service model.
