When it comes to online applications and services, it's always better to be safe than sorry. Even more so when it comes to our corporate and customer data. The nature and volume of every company's data is constantly growing, and so are the threats to the security of their accesses.

A preventive action in this regard is Multi Factor Authentication.

Why should you enable MFA?

To access any online account now, a username and password are required. This step is meant to prove to the service or application that the actual user is trying to log in, and not someone else.

Both usernames and passwords are easily identifiable variables. Username ar usually identified with e-mail addresses. As for passwords, easy-to-remember combinations are often chosen. Everyone's used "123456" or "qwerty" as a password at least once in their lifetime 🧐. Other times, passwords that have already been used in other accounts are chosen. This results in an increased risk of malicious intrusions into accounts.

It is for this reason that almost all online services, banks, social have implemented a way to provide secure access to accounts. It is called MFA or multi-factor authentication, and it precisely involves asking for and entering an additional factor, in addition to username and password, when accessing the account for the first time on a new device or an app.

We at CloudFire have also decided to take this step, hence implementing multi-factor authentication to our platform with Auth0's technology. This way we ensure greater security in access and more flexibility to each user.

By means of username, password and an additional code on a special application, you can enter Cortex, as well as keeping track of access and activity.

In order to enable multi-factor authentication in Cortex accounts, all you need to do is navigate to the users section, enter a user's details, and enable MFA.
